Aqvox was 2006 the first manufacturer, who developed USB-cables specially for the audiosector. Since 2006 we do offer audiophile USB cabels, which are technically and acoustically optimized that every user can instantly hear the improvenment.
Why is there any sound degradation ? it all depends on signal quality. And our USB-cables deliver the USB-audio signals in a specific format from what the USB-receiver chips can generate a far better sound quality. In USB-audio the computer sends the data to the USB-DAC in datapackets.
If the DAC receives error/missing packets there is only a very small timeframe during what the DAC can tell the computer to re-send the packets.
If this timeframe is passed, the music is played without these packets and this degrades the soundquality. USB-audio transfer is a completely different
thing as USB-data transfer.
Design guidelines from USB-chip manufacturers
Same rules as for other high-speed datatransfers, it needs Ultra Short USB-Adaptors, because the USB-signal is degraded if it
passes adaptors or PCB-traces which are more than 3cm long.

Ferrite
Ferrite rings/beads have to be avoided, as they affecting
the highs. Because they filter in same frequency bandwith as the transmitted USB-audio datastream.
USB signal quality
Digital Audio signal cables for USB. Just because it is a USB-signal, it is not automatically resistant
against signal-alteration due to different influences! The trivial argument: that is digital, so 0 or 1, yes or no, there can nothing be wrong, is a statement in general only made by users who have no own experience in developing digital- or data-technology.
The development of best USB-cables requires appropriate measuring
equipment, where signal-problems can be detected and
on construction level and proper material selection nearly
be eliminated.
Even here: the ear is also a development tool.

The WAVE RESISTANCE is based on frequency and is not measurable
with a Ohm-meter!
For example: in the professional broadcasting field or in
recording studios, digital cables terminated with plugs or
jacks which do not have same wave resistancy as the ccable,
are not used at all.
In Practice
Following disadvantages arising from interconnections running
out of specifications (eg. 75-Ohm, 110-Ohm etc..):
(this affects digital Audio- as well as digital Videosignals
and results from damaged cables or wrong parts)
mainly responsible are signal reflections, standing waves,
signal return losses and signal dampening for signal errors/alterings,
signal losses/creations and further the sound quality affecting
factors, all called jitter. This results in audible losses
of details, transients, stage imaging and transparency .
Under monitoring conditions, it is noticeable like
this example: if a backround Hi-Hat is whiped with the
metalbrush, not the details like the fine metalwires working
on the brass are audible, it sounds more undefinded like rustle
or noise.

Intro:
The symmetrical/balanced XLR-input of AQVOX Phonostages is
in some ways completely different from 99,9%-100% of all phonostages
on the market.
1.- it is not only a Voltage-amplifier (für MM´s
and MC´s) but also a Current-amplifier (only for MC´s).
2.- has a true balanced input.
3.- the input-amplification is adjustable and all this together
plus some other audiophile circuit-features making AQVOX Phonostages
unique on the worldmarket and producing a soundquality which
is incomparable.
BUT an Symmetrical-Current-Amp requires phonocables with different
attributes as normal phonocables have, which are made in 99,9%-100%
of all cases for voltage-amps.
Remember:
Voltage-amplifiers require cables with low capacity.
Symmetrical Voltage-amplifiers require symmetrical cables
with low capacity.
Current-amplifiers require cables with low inductivity.
Symmetrical Current-amplifiers require symmetrical cables
with low inductivity.
Therefore an symmetrical Current-amplifier requires braided
or at least twisted conductors.
This arrangement reduces the inductivity and stray pick-up
of distrurbances/humm/radio and improves signal to noise ratio.
Screening/Shielding:
A symmetrical Phonocable requires not essentially a shielding,
it depends on the electromagnetical pollution of its operational
area, if a shield is needed or not.
If the user does not hear any radio/humm/distortions/noise,
with a unshielded cable, then it is OK. But otherwise he must
use a screened cable. The sonically difference shield or No
shield is: without shield it sounds more open and the resolution
is better.
